Trekking Guide/Guest Service Attendant - Japanese Speaking Our Activities and GSA team looks after the Activity and Retail experience for guests, along with offering activities to both internal and external guests of the hotel. Activities include Glacier Explorers, Star Gazing, Tasman Valley tours, SEHAC and Trekking in the national park. This role is split between offering guided walks with our Hiking team, providing informative commentary along the way to our guests and providing guiding and translation support in other Activities, as well as assisting our GSA team. At the heart of our service, your ability to build rapport with our guests and share your knowledge and passion for the local surrounding area is the key to success. What you will be doing Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the trekking department operations, including but not limited to guest and agent communications, staff rostering. Demonstrate a knowledge of other cultures and customs in particular Japanese. Presenting to groups and providing safety briefings Providing informative commentary with your own personal style and flair Guiding walks along tracks within the National Park Ensuring a high level of Health and Safety is maintained Upselling all services, activities, and retail products available in the surrounding area, in order to maximize occupancy and revenue Handling guest inquiries, providing accurate information on products and services ensuring accurate transactions and data entry Keeping the public areas around the reception area clean and tidy Ensuring that all security procedures are followed in relation to cash, keys, guest security, and privacy Greet and interact with all customers and provide assistance as required Maintain the visual standards of the store and represent the image of the hotel Assist with the processing of stock deliveries and shop floor replenishment Handling requests and complaints, deferring to the Manager/Supervisor when necessary Jumping feet first into the day and helping out wherever is needed What you will bring to the role While previous guiding or trekking experience is required, we provide training to ensure you're kept up to speed with our products, our services, our standards, and our expectations.
