To do this: • We are committed to delivering excellence in the caregiver journey • We embrace the principles of mana tamaiti, whakapapa and whanaungatanga • We advocate for the wellbeing and aspirations of tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau, hapū and iwi • We create spaces for Caregiver voices and experiences to be heard and acted on through the development and delivery of excellent and exceptional Caregiver learning and support About the role | Mō te tūnga Based within the Caregiver Recruitment & Support (CGRS) team, you will be responsible for delivering on a programme of work which includes listening to the voices of caregivers, providing advice, identifying opportunities for improvement and influencing change. The purpose of the Senior Advisor, Caregiver Background and Learning, is to: • lead a programme of work to ensure Oranga Tamariki is informed by the voices of caregivers and that these voices influence the development of policy, practice and services and caregiver learning opportunities • engage with Māori caregivers, Māori advisory and sector groups to guide understanding of experiences, needs and issues to be addressed by CGRS and wider across the Ministry • be a champion of the importance of caregiving whānau and the qualifications for delivery of an exceptional caregiving background • engage with senior leaders to influence and generate change • work across the organisation and the sector to advocate and build partnerships that will benefit caregivers Skills and background: Preference will be given to those who have: • ability and knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Māori tikanga, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, child development concepts and strategies • highly developed engagement, advocacy, and advisory skills using creative approaches to build a deep understanding andget complex ideas across in a clear manner to any audience • a pragmatic and solutions focused approach to providing sound credible advice • a strong understanding of social services challenges, risk and impacts • critical thinking with the ability to draw on various sources to help our team and senior leadership make informed decisions • a proactive and collaborative approach to building strong relationships • an ability to provide peer support and coaching to colleagues • well-developed organisational and time organizational skills with the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines • background working in a project-environment and ability to develop, manage and deliver projects What we offer: We offer a dedicated and supportive team, flexible work options and the opportunity to apply your skills and background to the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi.
