Policy Analyst


Policy Analyst - Oranga Tamariki About the role: The work of the group covers the full spectrum of policy work, this environment will provide a very solid grounding in policy, so whether you want to become a subject matter expert, or build broadly on your background within the policy craft, you will have the opportunity to do so in this role. An overview of your responsibilities: Provide high-quality policy advice and analysis – that is informed by a child-centric focus and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi Analyse and review all available info and recommend options for implementation of new policies Write briefing and cabinet papers Provide high-quality advise on the implications of policies, including trends and risks Contribute to specific projects Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships across the organisation and the wider public sector Represent the Ministry at inter-departmental working groups About you: We are looking an experienced policy analyst, to be successful you will: Have a min of 1-two years policy background within a government organisation Be a creative thinker and not be shy in sharing your ideas or suggestions Have background writing briefings/reports and ideally cabinet papers Be a natural collaborator, you will be comfortable engaging with all manner of stakeholders, from senior management to front line and will enjoy working with others to achieve a common purpose. Be adaptable enough to quickly change focus to meet priorities. Have an interest/passion in working in an area of policy that is committed to improving the lives of tamariki The work: The work the policy group does has a real and practical impact with the focus on making policy that works in practice. As well as providing primary policy advice, the group also feeds into the policy work of many other agencies across the children’s system, so the opportunity to collaborate across the public sector is considerable.
