Migrate the New Sync Acquisition Algorithm in P25 Digital Signal Processing to

Location:
Christchurch
Description:

Tait DMR is a digital communications platform that delivers commercial and worker safety benefits for mission critical users, and Tait P25 is a robust, interoperable and secure digital radio solution, which we deliver for public safety organisations around the world. The challenge we have is that our DMR terminal products are using an old algorithm to detect the frame sync, while P25 products have adopted a new design to provide more robust detection in noisy environments. The new P25 receiver modem design incorporates a more conventional and much more robust correlation algorithm, combined with a fractional sync instant averaging algorithm. Working with experienced engineers, your project will be to understand the existing sync acquisition algorithm in Tait P25 products, and to migrate this to DMR products. This will significantly improve Tait DMR terminal performance, ensuring reliable voice and data transmission on DMR products. This project focuses on embedded firmware implementation in C, so a strong knowledge of C programming is essential. Familiarity with digital signal processing and basic communication systems is also desirable, as is some background with Linux systems and Matlab / Octave simulation.
