Coordinator - Youth Justice Permanent, Full-time, Otara Do you want to make a difference for young people and their whanau? We are looking for a permanent Youth Justice Coordinator to join our passionate team based in Otara, Auckland. In this role no 2 day's are the same, so join our supportive team who share the same values About us: At Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children we’re on a journey to ensure that all tamariki are in loving whānau and communities and have the support needed to flourish. Our tamariki deserve to feel safe, have their voices heard and be surrounded by loving whānau and community. The Youth Justice team, work in partnership with young offenders and their families, iwi, courts, Police Youth Aid, Youth Workers, youth community organisations and schools to find the right local solutions to reduce the rate and severity of youth re-offending. About the role: As part of Youth Justice Coordinator role, you will be responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in accordance with the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1989. You will work with families and the wider community to hold the young person accountable and to address the factors which have led them to offend. You will be able to incorporate a restorative justice approach within your practice and utilise the combined knowledge of community resources, networks and opportunities. The work you will do will contribute to create an alternative offending free future for the young person. To be successful, you will need: Excellent group facilitation and mediation skills, along with background in the youth justice/social services sector Sound knowledge of youth law and/or practice Interest in improving the community To be highly organised, methodical and solutions focused Effective communication abilities and expertise to network with government and non-government community partners An understanding of Te ao Māori and expertise to engage with Māori rangatahi and their whānau Good at communicating details in a clear, easy to understand way to a diverse audience Computer literate with the expertise to write court reports and other notes Hold a full clean driver licence In return we offer: A salary between $73,440 – $91,800 and employee benefits A cohesive and supportive team environment with training and career development opportunities The expertise to make long lasting relationships within the community Oranga Tamariki employee benefits such as discounts on Southern Cross and Westpac insurances Personal satisfaction you are making a positive and significant difference in your everyday work Apply now as applications close on Sunday, 24th January 2021 How to apply: Please click the ‘apply’ to submit your on-line application, please include your CV and a Introductory letter, Internal candidates please apply through the careers page on your myHR portal.
