Assistant Youth Coach - Hamilton Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children Job reference: 27019 Assistant Youth Coach Hamilton Full-time, Permanent Are you passionate about helping young people reach their potential? We are currently seeking positive role models who enjoy working with young people and supporting them to get their lives back on track. An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Youth Coaches to provide mentoring, support and care for young people. You will support rangatahi to attend education, take part in community sport/creative activates, and role model life skills to help them cook healthy meals and develop practical life skills. You will also have the opportunity to design and facilitate individual and small group programmes and activities to meet the diverse needs of young people in the home and support integration back into the community. This is a unique opportunity to positively influence the lives of young people in your community. Candidates need to demonstrate: Empathy and the expertise to work with the most at risk children and young people An understanding of interventions and treatment approaches to effect positive behavioural change An expertise to deliver structured programmes An interest in sports and fitness, tikanga Māori or music/arts A full New Zealand clean drivers' license is essential Starting Salary starts at $42,862.00 Background in Social Services, including working with at risk children or youth, and/or a qualification in Youth Work is preferred, but not essential - you may have background in working with young people as an employee or volunteer, or have relevant life skills. A full orientation programme will be offered to successful candidates.
